TWO ARROWS ZEN: CELEBRATING 20 YEARS OF PRACTICE

Twenty years ago, Musho Roshi and Mugaku Roshi received Dharma Transmission, committing to embodying and sharing the Buddha Way as they received it from Genpo Roshi. Since then, Two Arrows Zen, a Zen meditation center in Salt Lake City and Torrey, Utah, has been a place of refuge, practice, and community—a steady presence amidst life’s changing conditions. For two decades, we've practiced together through:

  • Daily weekday zazen
  • Days of Zen
  • Sesshins throughout the year
  • Study, ritual, and sincere inquiry
  • A supportive community of Dharma friends

Our deepest gratitude goes to our teachers, lineage, and every member of our sangha. Your practice, generosity, and presence have helped cultivate a community rooted in wisdom, compassion, and wholehearted practice.

JOIN US THIS FALL

Please join us as we celebrate our first twenty years—and help shape the next twenty. Together, may we continue walking this path for the benefit of all beings.

CELEBRATING 20 YEARS OF PRACTICE IN TORREY: A WEEKEND RETREAT

This retreat is dedicated to the Two Arrows Zen sangha as a weekend of practice and community. Starting with dinner on Thursday, October 15, we will gather for three days of zazen and daily ritual practice, including homage to the complete lineage of Zen ancestors back to Shakyamuni Buddha. We’ll care for our retreat center together, share delightful meals, go on energizing outings to admire the beauty of Southern Utah, and enjoy a celebratory evening on Saturday night. Whether you are a friend of the practice, a new practitioner, or have been coming to Torrey for twenty years, everyone is invited.

1000 YEARS OF PRACTICE: AN EVENING OF ART, MUSIC AND GENEROSITY

Join us at the Utah Museum of Contemporary Art for an extraordinary evening where meditative practice, art, and live music come together in celebration of a thousand-year-old Zen tradition that continues to shape lives today.

Guests will enjoy a reception with light bites and libations, a curated silent auction, and private access to UMOCA’s galleries before gathering for an intimate performance by internationally acclaimed sitar artist Arjun K. Verma, accompanied by tabla player Debanjan Bhattacharya.

Presented alongside UMOCA’s exhibition Time, Truth & Other Immeasurables, the evening offers a rare opportunity to experience contemporary artistic expression alongside ancient contemplative traditions that have explored beauty, impermanence, and the human experience for centuries.

Every ticket purchased, every auction bid, and every sponsorship helps sustain the community, teachings, retreats, and scholarships that make this work possible.

5:00-7:00 pm            Reception • Silent Auction • Bites & Beverages
7:00–8:30 pm            Welcome • Guided Meditation • Musical Performance

TWO ARROWS ZEN ONLINE SIT-A-THON: TWENTY YEARS OF ZEN PRACTICE

As part of our 2026 fundraising efforts, Two Arrows Zen is excited to sponsor our first Sit-A-Thon. This is the meditation equivalent of a walk-a-thon. Participants will commit to meditating online for an extended period—anywhere from 1 to 20 hours in honor of our 20th Anniversary.

Friends, family, and supporters can pledge donations to support the practice either at a flat fee or per hour of sitting. Our fundraising goal is $60,000.  All proceeds will go toward Two Arrows Zen’s 2027 operational fund.

We are enthusiastic about this event because it offers you the opportunity to deepen your practice while supporting the center's financial well-being. We can raise funds by doing what we do best. We can also receive support from friends and family who don’t meditate but appreciate the work of Two Arrows Zen.

Your gift can go twice as far. Generous donors are offering $11,000 in matching funds for donations made by October 15, helping us build momentum toward our $60,000 Sit-A-Thon goal.  We hope you’ll consider giving now and helping us make the most of this generosity.
