Diane and Miles reflect on the benefits of meditation practice in unstable times.
They also respond to the question: Is this retreat for me?

Join two meditation masters for a week of retreat in the red rock country of Southern Utah. Cultivate a stronger, more disciplined meditation practice and explore the natural interplay of body, breath, and mind. Whether you are new to sitting meditation or have years of experience, the emphasis on technique, relaxation, and enjoyment will serve your practice.

Sitting meditation (zazen) can support well-being and growth over a lifetime. But it takes practice and helpful instruction to bring about a lifetime of practice. This retreat will focus on the fundamentals of sitting:

  • Finding strength and relaxation in posture
  • Breathing to harmonize body and mind
  • Including the capacity to feel
  • Opening to experience dimensions of the mind of meditation including:
    • Shoshin – Beginners Mind
    • Zanshin – Sustained Mindfulness
    • Mushin – No Mind
    • Fudomyo – Immovable mind
    • Daishin – Big Mind

Practicing with Diane and Miles will give you a solid foundation for establishing and deepening your meditation practice. As lineage holders from 2 traditions, their masterful teaching will help you integrate insights from the Zen and Vipassana traditions. You will be supported in the inevitable challenges of the path and guided into deeper states of liberation. Over seven days, your practice will continuously deepen and lead you to what Dogen Zenji calls the “upright gate of ease and joy.”

In this retreat, you will engage in daily sitting and walking meditation, interactive Dharma talks and Dharma discussions, embodied awakening practices, and interviews with the teachers.

We will also venture into the canyonlands of Southern Utah to experience the vastness and beauty of our surroundings. The program includes a rich community experience and connections with like-minded individuals to share perspectives and learn with others.
